In the first Iron Fist tournament Kazuya swiftly defeated all of his opponents, except for Paul Phoenix due to a draw. However, Paul believed he was the champion and soon left home before the rematch between him and Kazuya and the sponsor of the Iron Fist Tournament. However, more importantly Kazuya defeated his father and showed to him that he was much stronger than his father and threw his father over the same cliff he was thrown over. He was renowned as the First Champion of the Iron Fist Tounament. Becoming the "Champion of the Iron Fist Tournament" Kazuya gained the rights of the Mishima Corporation (Heihachi Mishima's Corporation) which has the biggest influence on the world economy and constantly seeks to take over the world.
